Alberto Ballarin is a family-run winery, owned by Giorgio and Alberto, father and son, located in La Morra, in the area of Barolo (Piedmont, Italy) and produces typical wines from the area, especially Barolo, but also Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and a little production of white wine as well.
Alberto Ballarin is born thanks to the union of the values of tradition, the land and the authentic flavors with which Giorgio grew up and Alberto’s innovation, determination and look towards the future. It is the fruit of the harmony of their past, present and future.
The nickname of the winery and the family “Ballarin“ comes from afar so it is necessary to go backwards and walk through their history together by taking a “small” leap into the past of their family.
In the early 900’ there was a distant ancestor. A man dedicated to hard work and toil who served as a sharecropper in a farmhouse located in “Strada Ballerini” in Alba. Back in La Morra, the people dear to him and subsequently the whole town began to call him “the guy from Ballarin”, a Piedmontese distortion of the name of the street. Nickname that has stuck with them ever since, despite the generations and years that have passed.
Today, the winery works and owns 8 hectares of vineyards and their philosophy is very simple : wine is one of the greatest pleasures in life, so it must therefore be done with care, passion and respect. First of all in the vineyards, because wine is made above all in the vineyard, and in the winery, where they seek balance – that harmony of sensations which can blend sweetness, elegance and drinkability – and territoriality, through respect for their vineyards and the pursuit of maximum health of their grapes bunches.
