Small family-owned vineyard located in Vignonet, in the South of the Saint-Emilion Appellation and recently converted to organic farming. Château Barrail de Brisson shows typical Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation’s characteristics.
Château Barrail de Brisson is part of Saint-Emilion producers unions (UDP). For over 80 years, the UDP has made wine with an overriding emphasis on quality thanks to considerable expertise and state-of-the-art facilities enabling them to adapt to every situation. The combination of professional know-how and technical prowess has proved to be a major source of development, and the cellar is widely considered one of the major players in Bordeaux in terms of innovative winemaking. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the investment made in 2003 in a new gravity flow cellar housing 141 stainless steel vats – the largest of its kind in Europe.
The Union de Producteurs de Saint Emilion intends to continue in this vein, maintaining their efforts in terms of quality, marketing, sales, management, and customer relations. Although technological developments will be a key factor in the cellar’s success in the coming years, the major challenge is to reconcile the unique character of wines from Saint Emilion’s age-old terroir and the modern identity sought by the Union des Producteurs.
