The Chateau de Tracy is now run by Juliette d’Assay, the youngest daughter of the Count and Countess Alain d’Estutt d’Assay who restored the vineyard in the 1950s. She continues the work that was initiated by her ancestors 600 years ago with a clear philosophy: humility towards the forces of nature, a constant search for the most faithful expression of the terroirs of Tracy and the production of a style of “Gastronomical Sauvignon” which is clearly refined, delicate and precise.
“We are cultivating a historical vineyard which has been under the influence of the same family since the 15th century. Some of our parcels have been planted witth vines since the 14th century (the Champs de Cris for example is described in the archives of the Chateau on a parchment dated 1396). Our wines therefore have an undeniable historical dimension. This is all the more exciting as we use our own plant of «massale selections» in the renewal of our vines. Apart from the fact that these selections are an excellent investment for the future from the point of view of the genetic diversity of our vines and consequently of their aromatic diversity, we like the idea that these old selections of Sauvignon offer an ancestral typicity to our Pouilly-Fume: when you taste a wine from Chateau de Tracy you are also tasting History …”
