Château Piada, operated by the Lalande family since the 18th century, is located in the Barsac appellation near Bordeaux. The 8.22 hectare estate maintains a traditional culture and winemaking, including pruning and harvesting by hand.
Protected from winds of the Atlantic by the vast Landes forest, the vineyards of Barsac stretch along a narrow band of land on the left bank of the Garonne river, between Bordeaux to the north and Langon to the south. The climate and geology are ideal for Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle, and Semillon that Piada specializes in.
The harvest and vinification at Château Piada are done with utmost greatest care. Once grapes have matured, they are left on the vine to accumulate Botrytis cinerea (noble rot), which gives Barsac and Sauternes wines their distinctively rich sweetness and golden-amber hue. Château Piada’s harvesters are experts at finding each individual best-preserved grape, ensuring exceptional quality from start to finish.
The label used on every bottle of Château Piada has been used for over 130 years, and was first designed by the family in 1890.
