Pommard – a small Côte d’Or village of 550 inhabitants – is to be found 4 kms to the south-west of Beaune, on the road to Autun.
This prestigious appellation of 337 ha produces exclusively red wine: 212 ha in Pommard and 125 ha in Pommard 1er Cru. A range of Burgundy red and white completes this production.
The Domaine of Benoit Sordet is one of the oldest wine domaines of Pommard. The typically Burgundian buildings, dating to the beginning of the 17th century, as does in fact the 30 metres deep old well, situated in the courtyard, on whose coping is carved 1641. The property has belonged to the family since 1793. And so as the centuries pass, inspiration is re-kindled without a break across the generations. Wine is truly a product which is comes from an alchemy fashioned by the soil, the blend, climate and the wine grower’s know-how.
They try to push the boundaries, by studying new approaches – whilst the creator is totally respectful of Nature, our sustaining mother. The enterprising approach taken by the Domaine in order to obtain our Qualification in Agriculture Raisonnée corroborates this new approach for the respect of the environment.
Domaine Benoit Sordet conceives wines for each important occasion in life. In this way they create wines which are bright and powerful, and even elegant and sensual.
