Le Caniette is based in the Marche region, in the southern part, just inland from the Adriatic sea.
The estate is run today by Giovanni Vagnoni, who inherited the vineyards from his father Raffaele. He has been the one that first slapped a label on a bottle.
This region is ideal for viticulture thanks to its position, with the valley perpendicular to the sea and the Apennines, creating a favorable microclimate. What’s more, the soil, rich in clay, sand and limestone, provides the nutrients and drainage needed to produce quality grapes.
The grapevines planted here are Sangiovese and Montepulciano, along with the indigenous whites Pecorino and Passerina and a unique type of Grenache: Bordo.
The vineyards spread for 16 hectares, all cultivated according to organic viticulture.
