In 1948, Fernando Margaritelli, for his 60th birthday decided to donate his company, forest management and coal & wood production, to his three sons. Fernando dedicated the rest of his life to his passions: agriculture and the wine production. This is how Terre Margaritelli started in Torgiano, on the hill of Miralduolo, with 140 acres of property. After his death the family interrupted the wine production, selling all the grapes. His sons focused on the other areas of business: wood flooring and forest management, also opening a saw mill in Burgundy to make railway ties.
In 2000, Fernando’s grandsons, in particular Dario Margaritelli, decided to return his focus to the old family business and restart wine production with a different approach, with new attention to sustainability and organic farming. It seems obvious that he is the engine of the winery. Always present, feet firmly on the ground with the desire and pride to see the company founded by his grandfather grow and prosper. He runs all the gears in sync, reflecting his passion for bringing old engines back to life.
Federico Bibi (Sales Manager), met the Margaritelli family on a summer night back in 2005, by accident, and the rest is history. The pillars of the new project Terre Margaritelli were created that night. Federico has been the face of the estate for 20 years now.
Terre Margiaritelli has 140 acres of organic vineyards, all located in Miralduolo di Torgiano, all around the main house. Certified Organic EU Standard, Ceritified Equalitas Sustainable Winery, and part of the New Green Revolution program: all the wines are certified organic, all produced at the winery only with estate grapes.
Terre Margaritelli have selected a specific forest in Burgundy, the forest of Bertranges, for its own barriques. The familly has the right to cut the oak trees in Bertrange and to give the wood to the barrel maker to produce the barrels for the winery.
