The Volpetti family is well known in the city of Rome for their gourmet store in Via della Scrofa. The family started this business in 1870, famous for artisanal cured meats & cheeses and all sorts of fine groceries & wine. The wine was sourced from the family estate.
The winery is located in Ariccia, south of Rome, right at the foot of the old volcanos. From Volpetti vineyards, we can see the cones of the old volcanos.
In 1958, Giulio Volpetti split from his brothers and kept the winery. Today, Mauro, 3rd generation, keeps the tradition alive with about 40 hectares of vineyards facing the Tyrrhenian sea.
