Wiegner Winery is located on the northern slope of Etna, in Passopisciaro, in Contrada Rampante and Contrada Marchesa, planted with red grapes (Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio) and white grapes (Carricante), at an altitude of 750 m asl. Among the vineyards, fruit trees, flowers, and olive trees create a very balanced ecosystem.
Peter, an older Swiss merchant, fell in love with the area 30 years ago when Etna was still a quite abandoned land. He purchased the land that is now the winery.
Marco, his stepson, is now at the helm of the winery. An enologist by passion, learning under other winemakers, Marco now has more than 15 harvests under his belt. He is practicing organic viticulture according to European regulation. His wife, Federica, is now 100% involved in the winery.
