Located in the Vallée du Rhône, Chapelle de Pied Vaurias is close to Valréas and a classic example of Provençal Romanesque architecture.
The soil is limestone with terraces of round pebbles and limestone scree at the foot of the slope.
The grapes are hand-harvested at optimum ripeness.
After complete destemming, traditional vinification takes between 15 and 20 days interspersed with regular pumping over. The wine is matured in concrete or stainless-steel vats. It is bottled without fining but with tangential filtration.
A very brilliant red with violet glints.
Typical regional berries on the nose with distinct aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry.
A rounded, well-balanced wine with quite a long, fruity finish. Soft body without excess tannins.
Best paired with beef bourguignon, a mutton stew or roast pork.
